Make a pixel art GIF
GIFs are the easiest way to share an animation. Pixel art has few colours, so GIFs suit it well, as long as the picture is scaled up by a whole number and not blurred.
Step by step
- Open the export. , then .
- Scale it up. Social sites shrink and blur small images: export at 4× to 10×. Pixelight repeats each pixel exactly.
- Pick the frames and loop. All frames or one tag; forever, or a number of times.
- Colours. A GIF holds 256 colours. If your sprite has more (blending, gradients), choose ordered dithering or error diffusion; Pixelight picks one palette for the whole animation so colours do not flicker.
- Need more? Animated PNG keeps every colour and soft transparency, and plays in every current browser.
